Photojournalist Bryce Wilson was reporting from Kramatorsk on Thursday as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in separatist-held regions in the country's southeast. Did Putin record his chilling threat to NUKE the west three days ago - proving he had no intention for peace? Russian President Vladimir Putin wore the same outfit he wore two days ago to announce his invasion of Ukraine on early Thursday morning. Putin described his operation as a 'special military operation' and saying he wants to 'demilitarize', not occupy, the country. Locals from Kiev, Lviv and Mariupol formed huge queues stretching out of goods stores despite the threat from enemy artillery overhead. World leaders expressed their condemnation after Vladimir Putin declared war against the Ukraine in an early morning address on Thursday. Oil rose to more than $100 a barrel for the first time since 2014 on Thursday as Russia moved troops into Ukraine. Brent crude hit a high of $101.34 a barrel in early Asia trading.|Fujitsu's Fabric PC concept. See more computer pictures. Imagine walking to school or work with a brand-new type of laptop computer in hand. You walk casually, swinging the laptop back and forth between your arms, which is easy, since it weighs well under one pound (0.45 kg) and isn't much thicker than a checkbook. Although it has no carrying case, you hardly blink after dropping it onto the concrete sidewalk. Instead you pick it up, dust it off, and continue on your way. When you arrive at your desk, you toss the laptop down on the table and open it up. The screen immediately unfolds, spreading out into an enormous display! While this scenario sounds very futuristic, it actually isn't that far from reality, thanks in part to a concept design called a Fabric PC (personal computer), produced by Fujistu, Inc. Amazingly, a Fabric PC won't be encased within a tough metal shell like the PCs that have been around up to this point. The Ecological Risk Assessment Specialty Group (ERASG) is currently planning several workshops, including such topics as regional risk assessment, invasive species, climate change, statistical methods, and the integration of human and ecological risk assessment. Anyone with an interest in ecological risk assessment is encouraged to join, from eco-risk practitioners to decision makers relying on these analyses for more effective decision making. We encourage SRA members from all sectors to join the ERASG. The Society for Risk Analysis Economics and Benefits Analysis Specialty Group (EBASG) focuses on the use of economic analyses to support risk-management decisions. These analyses provide information on the costs, benefits, and other impacts of alternative approaches for reducing risks. Our goals include encouraging better integration between risk assessors, economists, and others involved in risk-management decisions, as well as enhancing the data and methods available for conducting economic analyses. The Engineering and Infrastructure Specialty Group (EISG) supports SRA members for risk and policy analysis applied toward infrastructure management and engineering problems.|Activity detection is one of the attractive computer vision tasks to exploit the video streams captured by widely installed cameras. Although achieving impressive performance, conventional activity detection algorithms are usually designed under certain constraints, such as using trimmed and/or object-centered video clips as inputs. Therefore, they failed to deal with the multi-scale multi-instance cases in real-world unconstrained video streams, which are untrimmed and have large field-of-views. Real-time requirements for streaming analysis also mark brute force expansion of them unfeasible. The overall system is optimized for real-time processing on standalone consumer-level hardware. Nowadays, activity detection has drawn a fast-growing attention in both industry and research fields. Activity detection on streaming videos captured by in-vehicle cameras is applied for vision-based autonomous driving. The development of these applications brings several challenges. First, most of these systems take unconstrained videos as input, which are recorded in large field-of-views where multi-object and multi-activity occur simultaneously and continuously over time. Third, efficient algorithms are demanded for real-time processing and responding of streaming video. signo gato
